How to Afford CellCept

Last verified: July 3, 2026. Programs, links, and phone numbers re-checked.

CellCept is a brand-name immunosuppressant medication made by Genentech, and this page covers CellCept only. If you have commercial (job) insurance, start with the manufacturer copay card. If you have Medicare or no insurance, the Genentech Patient Foundation may provide this medication free if you qualify.

Is this the right page for you?

Check your bottle. If it says "CellCept," this page is for you.

If it says "Mycophenolate Mofetil," you are on the generic, which has its own prices and programs: go to the generic Mycophenolate Mofetil page.

We never tell you to change your medication. Brand, generic, and manufacturer choices belong to your transplant team.

Important: Discount Cards Don't Help Your Insurance

Discount cards (GoodRx, SingleCare) or cash payments do NOT count toward your deductible or out-of-pocket max. If you use a card too early, you might pay more money over the year. The card pays for you, but that money doesn't count. You still have to pay your full deductible later.

Common questions

How can I get help paying for CellCept?
If you have commercial (job) insurance, start with the manufacturer copay card. If you have Medicare or no insurance, the Genentech Patient Foundation may provide this medication free if you qualify.

Can Medicare patients use a CellCept copay card?
No. Federal law bars manufacturer copay cards for Medicare and other government insurance. Medicare patients can check the Genentech Patient Foundation or a copay foundation instead.

Does Medicaid cover CellCept?
Medicaid usually covers this medication. If it is denied, ask your transplant team about prior authorization or an appeal.

My bottle says Mycophenolate Mofetil, not CellCept. Does this page apply to me?
No. A bottle labeled Mycophenolate Mofetil is the generic, which has different prices and programs and no copay card. See the generic Mycophenolate Mofetil page at transplantmedicationnavigator.com/medications/mycophenolate/.
